The actual scientific cannabis family is called “Cannabaceae”, the Genus is Cannabis. The subspecies of Cannabis Sativa are sativa, indica, and ruderalis. Most think the three subspecies are sativa, indica, hybrid. There are tens of thousands of cannabis variety types, each strain falls between the Sativa to Indica Spectrum. Sativa is an uplifting type of cannabis, and users report feeling energetic and stimulated. Sativas is responsible for euphoria, creative thinking and can cause paranoia. Sativas are commonly used to treat nausea, depression pain, migraines, and lack of appetite, amongst many other things. Indica is more sedative in nature and produce the heavy, stoned feeling. It has been reported to relax the body. A good way to remember indica being sedative is by saying that you get couch-lock from indica, In-da-Couch. Indicas are used for insomnia, muscle spasms, anxiety, chronic pain amongst many other things. Hybrids are within the spectrum between the two depending on which end of the spectrum the strain is closest two. Many hybrids are a blend of the therapeutic and adverse properties. Disclaimer: Each patient is a little different, and due to your own personal chemical make-up you might have the complete reverse of the aforementioned effects. This is much like how some people drink coffee, and it makes them sleepy.
